Men’s Liberty celebrated 22 years of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26, 2012! According to the most recent American Community Survey in 2010, nearly 12% of American identified themselves as having a disability; this translates to over 36 million Americans!1

Since the passage of this landmark legislation, the strides made in accessibility, employment opportunities and anti-discrimination have had a huge impact on the lives of men, women and children across the US. And Men’s Liberty is proud to work with many of these men and their caregivers. All to improve their quality of life.

Anniversary Americans with Disabilities Act

At the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26, 1990, President George Bush stated: “Today we’re here to rejoice in and celebrate another ‘independence day,’ one that is long overdue. With today’s signing of the landmark Americans for Disabilities Act, every man, woman, and child with a disability can now pass through once-closed doors into a bright new era of equality, independence, and freedom.”2

First introduced in the 100th Congress, the ADA bans discrimination in the areas of employment, public accommodation, public services, transportation and telecommunications. President Bush signed the ADA into law on July 26, 1990. Although amended several times, the heart of the legislation remains a fundamental statement of equality of opportunity. It enshrines the rights of Americans with disabilities. But the work isn’t over just yet. Whether its Medicare coverage for new assistive technologies or accessibility in public transport, there is still work ahead. And Men’s Liberty is so proud to be a part of that work.

We spend so much of our time talking to our customers, many of whom are disabled or a caregiver for an individual with disabilities which prevent them from voiding normally. It is always inspiring to hear back from men who are using the product. And who’re getting to experience a brand new sense of independence and vitality. Whether it’s a trip to the grocery store or a week on the beach, having the confidence to know that they have a safe, secure fluid management system has made a huge difference in their lives. It’s something we’re proud of and we are working hard to spread the word to other men about this amazing product.
